Acceptance Speech-Animal shelter

I would first like to of course say thank you. Thank you to all the people who have helped mine and these animals' dreams come true. It has been a rough long two years ever since i thought of the idea, but everything seemed to fall into place just as i had faith it would.
When everything first started, i was just a volunteer. Doing my small part in making a difference in these animals lives. I volunteered at three humane societies on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after work. On saturdays I went to Jonesboro to do adoptions at the mall, and every other month i went with other shelter volunteers to the National ASPCA meetings. As you can see i was very devoted to these animals. All animals actually, whether it be my dogs, my neighbors cat, or the homeless one's at the shelter. I had to be. They counted on me and the other volunteers with every ounce of hope in them.
May 14th, 2008 was the day that changed the life of me, and every local homless animal. It was the day that i was on my way to a conference in Little Rock, and i stopped by a small gas station to, you know, get some gas (laughs) and after paying for the gas, a decided to buy a lottery ticket. So i did, and on my way i went. I sat through the conference and on my wa home i turned on the radioo to listen to some music. About ten minutes into the music a commercial came on announcing the lottery winning ticket numbers. 5600912 they called out. And i could not believe what i had just heard. Did I just win the lottery?? No, no...i heard wrong..but then they repeated the numbers and BAM!. Yes. I just won the lottery. I pulled off to the next gas station and told them what just happened. They somehow didnt believe me but after scanning my card they were just as surprised as i was. One million dollars.
Now here I am two years later. So I guess you all know what I did with the money. I ended up getting 800,00 after taxes so I started right away. I wanted to build a no- kill shelter for 200 animals that had a recovery/rehab center for the ''needy'' animals. This shelter was going to be for dogs and cats. So the plan took six months to come up with and right after all the good stuff was taken care of I started building. To save money all the work was done voluntarilly by the good people of northeastern AR. One year later the 3,000 square foot shelter, capable to holding up to 50 healthy adoptable dogs and cats, and 50 dogs and cats that will soon be adoptable but need a little work in our rehabilitation center. The dogs have five acres with two dog pools and plenty of toys, and are boarded in the tiled 100 square foot rooms equipped with two toys, and two of the finest dog beds. The dogs eat Science Diet dog food that is donated by the makers of science diet at five hundred bags a month. The cats have a one thousand square foot cat room that is equipped just like the dogs, but with a claw scratching wall and a...well bunk house where the cats can nap. All the animals are given a name when they come into the shelter, if they dont have one, and we try our best to make the dogs and cats feel like this is their home. Donations have been accepted and fundraisers are done each month. If God can keep blessing us with the donations and the fundaraising money the shelter is taking in three thousand a month, not including the adoption fees. Our adoption fees are forty dollars for a dog, and thirty five for a cat.
The shelter has been great over the past six months and every spot has been filled for the animals. We have an average of two adoptions a day. People come from all over to adopt these animals as were told. Some animals who are not doing so well at the local Humane Society come to us for help in the rehab center where they do 35% better. As you all can see im very proud of this shelter, and thses animals. And once again i would like to give thanks to all the volunteers that come help out and all the wonderful people who helped build this animal sanctuary. Thank you.
